The Peggy Barnish Legacy Circle
Peggy Barnish founded Homeward Pet Adoption Center (originally Hooterville’s Safehaus) with the idea that every homeless animal needs a home. With your commitment to Homeward Pet, you are ensuring her legacy, and yours, lives on.
We are incredibly grateful to the generous donors who remember Homeward Pet with a legacy gift. Your support ensures our long-term financial strength and our capacity to continue our lifesaving work with homeless cats and dogs for years to come.
When you notify Homeward Pet Adoption Center about your legacy gift, we enroll you into the Peggy Barnish Legacy Circle.
You will be invited to our annual coffee hour with our Executive Director, see a behind the scenes tour of the shelter, receive a discount code to attend other events benefiting Homeward Pet, earn entry into our Companion Legacy Program, and acknowledgement of your contribution on our website. When you step forward, others are encouraged to do the same, although you may choose to remain anonymous, and we will honor that request.
Should you name Homeward Pet as a beneficiary in your will, trust, and/or financial accounts such as retirement, donor advised fund, brokerage or bank accounts, we would welcome a copy of the legal document or section of the document that accompanies your gift along with your Peggy Barnish Legacy Circle Enrollment Form. This can make estate administration easier when your gift is received.
Thank you for making Homeward Pet part of your legacy. Should you have any questions or would like the form to get started, please email

Beneficiary Designations
Not everyone wants to commit to making a gift in their wills or estates. Some prefer the flexibility that a beneficiary designation provides by using:
- IRAS and retirement plans
- Life insurance policies
- Donor advised funds
- Commercial annuities
It only takes three simple steps to make this type of gift and change the lives of animals using a beneficiary designation. Here’s how to name Homeward Pet as a beneficiary:
- Contact the administrator of your retirement plan, insurance policy, bank account or donor advised fund for a change-of-beneficiary form or simply download a form from your provider’s website.
- Decide what percentage (1 to 100) you would like to contribute to Homeward Pet and name us, along with the percentage you chose, on the beneficiary form.
- Return the completed form to your plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution.
