Homeward Pet Food Bank

Homeward Pet has one of the most robust Food Bank Programs in our community, with beneficiaries as far east as Yakima. While we don’t run the program for the public directly out of our shelter, we donate to various organizations that bring your donations closer to the people who need them.

We partner with more than 30 retailers around the Eastside/Seattle area to collect donated pet food and supplies. Additionally, generous donors order online through our Amazon and Chewy wish lists to provide seasonal boosts to the supplies we need. Last year, we sent over 156,000 lbs (over 78 tons) of food to 21 food banks and rescue partners. For a comparison, a fully loaded Washington state ferry carries 78 tons of vehicles.

In addition to feeding the animals directly in our care, your donations to our Food Bank provide pet food and supplies to families in need of assistance to help them keep their beloved pets in their home. Your donations feed over 1,300 family’s pets per week. That is 1,300 families that don’t have to surrender their beloved pets to a shelter because they cannot feed them.

Of note, we have a rescue transport partner from Yakima who brings us pets in need of adoption and we send them back with food and supplies to help keep pets in their homes. Our programs help us tackle the over-population challenges from both sides.

You can provide for homeless cats and dogs—and help keep pets in their homes—by making a donation of dog or cat food at Homeward Pet, or at any of the following locations:
